Mindfulness in your daily life
Let’s start with the workplace
In our workplace, we are constantly being distracted with many demands and interruptions, making it difficult to remain mindful. It is imperative to stay focused and not to be consumed by the noise that constantly surrounds us, mostly caused by technology.
Mindfulness is to focus on one thing at a time, avoiding multitasking.
Try and ensure that small demands don’t pile up, take time in the morning before you start your day, prioritize your day and prepare a checklist of what you need to do. This methodology is very rewarding to achieve on a daily basis.
Now let’s look at your physical requirements
It’s important to be mindful of what your body needs at all times; this includes exercise, intellectual stimulation, a balanced diet and quite time as well as downtime.
A key aspect of remaining mindful is breathing. Try to do the following breathing exercise on an hourly basis:
- Breathe in while counting to four, hold your breath for a second and then breathe out for six counts.
- Repeat ten times.
Being mindful continuously creates a day filled with happiness.
